Digital Hearing Aids Review
Hearing aids have evolved all these years. These hearing
instruments vary on their size, power, circuitry or how they are worn.
These can either be: Behind-the-Ear (BTE), In-th-Ear (ITE),
In-the-Canal (ITC) and the Completely-in-Canal (CIC). With the latest
trends in technology and digital systems, hearing aids have caught up
with it as well.
Digital hearing aids have been in demand since the start of the last decade. This type of hearing aid is not new. They first arrived in the scene in the late 1980's. Like any new product it was not immediately received by the market. The first models were bulky and uses a lot of battery power.
Further research brought about many improvements. Using the latest digital signal processing technologies, the digital hearing aids can now be produced in a variety of popular styles like Behind-the-Ear (BTE) and Completely-in-Canal (CIC) models.
Currently, there are over two dozen digital hearing aid manufacturers producing over 30 different models. This number has steadily grown. There are still two types of digital hearing aids, analogue and digital which differs their method of conversion of sound waves. Analogue hearing aids do not distinguish between sounds that some are too loud while others can be difficult to hear. Different programs are installed in the aid and can be adjusted manually depending on the listening environment the person is in. It's not the case with the digital aids. These can be programmed to operate automatically across different environments. Some models have reduced acoustic feedback and background noises that in turn produces extremely accurate and high quality sound.
