Today’s generation of hearing aid wearers are more active than ever before. That’s why Siemens created a new Receiver-in-Canal (RIC) system – CENTRA Active. It’s easy-to-wear, water-resistant, rechargeable, and offers unrivaled hearing performance.
A new RIC design unlike other RIC designs, CENTRA Active features an ergonomically shaped receiver unit specially designed for optimum placement in the ear canal. The receiver unit is comfortable, virtually invisible, and available in different lengths. It plugs into the body of the hearing instrument with a simple yet secure turn-and-click connection, and the occlusion-free domes are available in a wide range of sizes.
Water resistant innovations – CENTRA Active wearers don’t have to worry about working up a sweat. The AquaProtect system is an array of innovations that make the instrument resistant to sweat, moisture, humidity, and other debris.
Rechargeable – Freedom from batteries! With CENTRA Active’s easy-to-use charger, the hearing instruments work all day on a single night’s charge. Simple to operate, up to two instruments can be charged at one time. After just five hours of charging, the charger shuts itself off and the hearing instruments are ready to run for a full day and evening. CENTRA Active can also run on regular size 13 batteries.
e2e wireless – For the most precise and natural localization. The Siemens Centra Active Hearing Aid can easily be bought from online in case you can’t find them available locally.
Advantages:
First of all they are very clear sounding and a good value if you don’t pay over $1500 for each ear. Another advantage is that these things are practically invisible when worn. The main unit fits behind the ear, and a thin clear tube with the speaker on the end wraps along the top of the ear and into the ear canal.
When worn, the only part that can be seen is the thin clear tube. This behind-the-ear design definitely helps to overcome the stigma attached to hearing aids.
Disadvantages:
There have been reports that the case cracks at the point where it is pierced by the pin which permits the battery door to open and close so take note that this product might be a little fragile. Another quirk is when you drop your Centra Actives into their charging wells, and then close the charge lid to start the charging cycle, the charger automatically turns off each hearing aid.
Then, when you retrieve your hearing aids once the charging cycle has been completed, you have to cycle on each aid by momentarily opening and closing the battery compartment. Not a big deal, once you understand this requirement, which is mentioned about half way through the user instructions for the charger.
Conclusion:
If sound clarity, looks, and value are what you value in a hearing aid then the Siemens Centra Active should be on the top of your list.
